Protein First: Powerhouse Protein Brownies – T Nation Content – COMMUNITY

No Sugar, No Flour, All the Flavor

Eat brownies to get lean and build muscle. No, really. Here’s a recipe that supports all your fitness goals.

Fit folks eat sweet potatoes. We eat eggs and never toss those delicious anabolic yolks. We eat walnuts because they’re packed with healthy fatty acids and give us a boost in the bedroom. Many even “supplement” with cacao for its longevity and nitric oxide benefits. And we always have protein powder on hand.

And that’s why you should eat brownies.

Wait, what?

Well, not just any brownies, but these brownies. They’re made with all the good stuff listed above. Here’s Dani to show you how to make ’em:

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Bake sweet potatoes (1 hour at 400 degrees Fahrenheit) and peel them after cooling.
  2. Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Line a brownie tin or deep baking dish with parchment paper.
  4. Use a food processor or immersion blender on the sweet potato until smooth.
  5. Add the rest of the ingredients except the walnuts. Blend into a thick batter and pour into pan.
  6. Top with walnuts.
  7. Bake for around 35-40 minutes. Leave them slightly undercooked for a gooey texture.

Here’s a variation of the recipe, sort of a “blondie” version but of course they’re orange with the pumpkin:

Starting with original recipe:

  1. Leave out the cocoa.
  2. Use vanilla MD Protein PLUS two extra scoops.
  3. Swap the walnuts for toasted almond slices.
  4. Add cinnamon.
  5. Don’t need the 2 tablespoons of milk.

Not bad. I miss the chocolate, but this version doubles up the protein.
